Who We Are
Who we are
About Us
As Hood Scholars, we bring both scholarship and neighborhood wisdom to the table, using research-based pedagogy alongside our lived experiences in schools, nonprofits, churches, and community spaces serving Black and Brown children in urban settings. We are highly degreed educational practitioners, with 100% of our consultant team holding graduate level degrees. We are just as comfortable citing studies as we are telling the truth about what happens in real classrooms, sanctuaries, and youth programs. That blend of scholarship and street sense is what sets us apart and allows us to design support that is rigorous, relevant, and deeply rooted in the communities we serve.
The Heart Behind Our Minty Values
Our Minty values were not just written in a boardroom. They were shaped in team retreats, car rides, Zoom halls, and kitchen table conversations where we were planning, laughing, pushing each other, and telling the truth about what it really takes to sustain this work.
We enjoy being around each other, and that sense of joy and honesty shows up in how we partner with every client. These values guide how we show up for one another and for the communities we serve.
Our Minty Values
- We lead with purpose, passion, and people.
- We believe education is a powerful tool for justice rooted in community.
- We value individuality and honor unique identities and experiences.
- We build trust, show love, and stay grounded in connection with families, educators, and communities.
- We uplift voices and affirm the brilliance in others.
- We laugh hard, centering joy and authenticity in our work.
